The Thummerer Wine Cellar operating in Noszvaj belonging to the Eger Wine Region, has become the Wine Cellar of the year 2011.
The prize is given from year to year to one wine cellar based on the votes of 85 wine experts delegated by the Wine Growers’ Association, the Hungarian Wine Academy and the National Council of Mountain Perishes (NCM). This year it happened for the tenth time already.
Horváth Csaba, chief secretary of NCM, who congratulated to Vilmos Thummerer on behalf of about 70 thousand wine growers of 22 wine region at the investiture said: the activity of the wine cellar has always been characterized by high standard and quality.
At the same time because of the fact that it produces the grapes in its own territory, it is a complex enterprise embracing the entire business, because its activities range from production thru wine growing and treating to hospitality.
Vilmos Thummerer, the founder of the winery told us, that he has been dealing with wine growing as a private entrepreneur since 1984, and he bought the premises and the cellars for the winery in 1992. He had begun growing wine on a 7 ha land, and today he has almost 100 ha land with grapes. Each plantation was deployed by him.
