Two of this season’s wines are already on sale in leading wine distributors in Hungary. Takler Cellars from Szekszard introduced its 2012 Pinot Noir Rose, whilst Mihaly Figula opened with his usual Zenit.
The summer of 2012 was very hot and dry and, as a result, harvest started unusually early, as soon as in the first half of August. Producers were challenged to preserve acids and balances.
Figula Zenit 2012
End of August, heat wave, harvest in dawn, cold grapes. 8 g sugar, 13.5 alcohol, acidity almost 7. The result: very tight, complex structure beyond the character of new season’s wine.
Takler Pinot Noir Rose 2012
Harvest on the day of Saint Steven. Dynamic, lively and flagrant with grapefruit and blackcurrant.
